The History of Curly Tails Grooming

Five years ago, my life changed forever.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer during a time when I was deeply immersed in the sports industry, working long hours in high-pressure executive leadership roles. Like many people in leadership positions, I was constantly giving to others, solving problems, managing crises, and carrying stress every single day.

At the same time, I had purchased two Goldendoodles and quickly realized something that many pet owners experience — grooming costs had become extremely expensive, especially for “designer breeds.” I began noticing how many families were overwhelmed by the maintenance costs associated with these dogs, and sadly, I also started seeing more abandoned, surrendered, and severely matted dogs.

Many pet owners loved their dogs deeply but simply could not keep up financially.

That realization stayed with me.

What began as grooming my own dogs slowly turned into grooming dogs for friends, family members, and people in the community. During one of the most emotionally difficult periods of my life, dog grooming unexpectedly became therapy for me.

It gave me peace.

It gave me purpose.

It gave me a way to disconnect from the pressures of corporate life and reconnect with compassion, patience, and healing.

As a Vice President of Human Resources in the sports world, I dealt daily with high-pressure environments and difficult personalities. Grooming dogs became my escape from that world. Dogs do not care about titles, status, or stress. They simply want love, patience, and care.

That changed me.

Over time, I realized this passion was becoming something much bigger.

Three years ago, after my mother passed away, grooming became even more personal to me. During the grieving process, Curly Tails Grooming helped me heal. My mother loved dogs, and so does my entire family. Her work ethic, kindness, and belief in helping others shaped the foundation of this business.

Because of her, I learned that success should never come from greed.

That philosophy became the heart of Curly Tails Grooming.

I officially registered the business as an LLC and began building Curly Tails Grooming with a different vision than many traditional grooming businesses. My goal was simple:

Provide quality grooming services with compassion, honesty, and fair pricing.

I believe pet owners should not have to spend outrageous amounts of money simply to keep their fur kids healthy, clean, and cared for.

That is why Curly Tails Grooming focuses on:

One of the things closest to my heart is working with rescue organizations and shelters. I provide free grooming services for rescued, abandoned, surrendered, and neglected dogs whenever I can because I believe every dog deserves a second chance.

These fur kids did not choose us.

We chose them.

And many times, they are the ones left behind.

That is why Curly Tails Grooming is built on compassion first.

Today, Curly Tails Grooming continues to grow as a home-based business with plans to expand into future locations, daycare services, and eventually franchise opportunities. While I may not claim to be a “master groomer,” what I can promise is genuine care, integrity, and a passion for every dog that comes through my doors.

I invest in quality products, professional equipment, continuing education, and thoughtful touches that make pet owners feel appreciated. One of my signature gifts is providing AirTags for many of our fur kids to help owners keep track of their beloved pets.

For me, this business has never just been about grooming.

It has always been about healing, purpose, second chances, and honoring my mother’s legacy through hard work, compassion, and service to others.
